VENEZIA-TORINO: POST MATCH

August 30, 2024

At the end of Venezia-Torino, Day 3 of the Serie A 2024/25 championship, which finished with the result of 0-1, Venezia coach Eusebio Di Francesco and Joel Pohjanpalo analyzed the match as follows.

Eusebio Di Francesco
"It's a shame about the result of this match, but I have to say that playing during the transfer market period didn't seem fair to us or to all the teams that played today.
Against Torino, we put in a great team performance, interpreting the game well and trying until the end. It's unfortunate about the goal we conceded, which was a bit naive, while their goalkeeper made two great saves.
We need to understand that Serie A doesn't allow the slightest mistake; as soon as you lose a bit of focus, the opponents punish you.
We know that to achieve our final goal, which is to stay in Serie A, we have to fight a lot, but we're only at the beginning.
Getting points today would have given a great boost of enthusiasm to us and to the whole environment, which has been fantastic."

Joel Pohjanpalo
"Today we put in a great performance against a strong team like Torino; it's a shame about the final result, which we didn't deserve after the many goal-scoring opportunities we created.
It's a great pity not to have been able to get points today, but now we have to focus immediately on the next match against Milan.
In terms of fitness, I feel good; I've worked hard during this period to be ready as soon as possible. Unfortunately, my performance wasn't enough to get a result, but we have to take everything positive from today and prepare as best as we can for the match against Milan."
