Venezia and Genoa swap Mattia Aramu and Antonio Candela

August 25, 2022

Venezia FC announce the transfer of attacking midfielder Mattia Aramu to Genoa in exchange for right-back Antonio Candela and cash.

Aramu, 27, moves to Genoa on a loan with the Ligurian club having an obligation to purchase outright. The Torino-born playmaker joined Venezia from Siena in July 2019 and registered a total of 30 goals and 18 assists in 105 appearances across all competitions over the last three seasons. Aramu was influential in Venezia’s historic promotion to Serie A in the 2020/21 season, contributing 10 goals and six assists on the campaign.

Candela, 22, is a former Italy youth international, earning 50 total caps from the Under-16 to Under-20 levels, and was a member of the Italian teams that finished runners-up at the 2018 UEFA European Under-19 Championship and fourth at the 2019 FIFA Under-20 World Cup. Genoa acquired Candela from his hometown club Spezia in January 2018, and have sent him out on loan in each of the last three seasons. Candela split the season between Trapani and Olbia in 2019/20, made 30 appearances (26 starts) for Serie C side Pergolettese in 2020/21, and made 27 appearances (25 starts) with four goals for Serie C side Cesena last season. He has agreed to personal terms with Venezia through the 2024/25 season with an option for one additional year.

Thank you, Mattia. Welcome, Antonio.
