Venezia FC are preparing for their away match in La Spezia, scheduled for Friday, May 1 at 3:00 PM at the Stadio Alberto Picco. On the eve of the match, coach Stroppa spoke to the media, describing the details of the game and focusing on the main themes concerning the team’s physical and mental condition.
Giovanni Stroppa, Venezia FC head coach:
“We approach the match with our usual mindset, aiming to bring home the result through what we know how to do. I return to the same pitch and the same referee as a year ago, but I don’t pay attention to these things—they don’t interest me. I am fully focused on the team and what it needs to do.
People often say that these kinds of matches prepare themselves. We’ve had a good week of work and the team is mentally ready. I don’t want to downplay the importance of the match, but right now we need to do things the way we’ve always done them. Tomorrow we face a top team, and every detail will make the difference.
At the start of the season, I said I wanted a team with a clear playing identity. Results always bring uncertainty, but our performances were designed to reach this level of quality in our play. For tomorrow, the team is in good shape, and even the unavailable players will still travel with the squad.
Spezia is a team that presses aggressively on the man. We’ll see tomorrow whether it will be an end-to-end match or not. We are used to playing a certain way, and tomorrow we’ll see how the tactical side of the match develops.
Tomorrow I expect a brave opponent, as they showed in their last match in Catanzaro. We will need to bring our physical and mental qualities onto the pitch. From an emotional standpoint, we will approach the match in the same way as previous games.”
