The fifth matchday of the Serie BKT first round is approaching for Venezia FC. On the eve of the fixture against Spezia SC, scheduled for Saturday, September 27 at 15:00 at the Penzo Stadium, coach Stroppa takes stock of the team’s form, just two days after the victory in the Coppa Italia Round of 32 against Hellas Verona.
Giovanni Stroppa, Venezia FC coach
“We will try to face Spezia with the same spirit we showed in the last Coppa Italia match, correcting our mistakes in both phases of play and trying to perform as best as possible what we are working on in training. We are facing a strong team that is going through a period of adjustment, but it is led by a great coach and has important players; it’s a physical, well-structured side that knows how to play vertically, so we’ll need to be very attentive both defensively and offensively.
The lads are doing well, on Wednesday against Verona they showed a strong identity on the pitch, playing with balance and personality. I received an excellent response from everyone, including those who had played fewer minutes up until that point; this allowed us to improve and condition certain players, giving me the chance to make choices for the upcoming matches.
Whether progressing in the Coppa Italia will bring enthusiasm, we’ll only know tomorrow. In training the team is pushing to the maximum, working to improve ball circulation and fluidity of play. The match against Verona certainly gave us more self-confidence and belief, and we must continue on this path. Winning definitely helps to strengthen the group, but at the moment the team is still in the building phase.”
