The press conference of Giovanni Stroppa

May 7, 2026

Having secured promotion to Serie A in the previous round in La Spezia, Venezia FC is preparing for the final matchday of the Serie BKT season, scheduled for Friday, May 8 at 8:30 PM at the Pier Luigi Penzo Stadium. Coach Stroppa’s men are ready to embrace their fans once again in the clash against Palermo.

Giovanni Stroppa, Venezia FC head coach:
These days after the promotion have been very enjoyable for me. There is great satisfaction because we have finally achieved the goal of our long journey. But after doing all of this, not finishing first would bother me, so tomorrow we must confirm the excellent path we’ve taken by ending the season at the top of the table.

Palermo are a team to be feared; like us, they have had an important season. Preparing for this match during a week of well-deserved celebrations is not easy, but I’m sure the atmosphere, the stadium, and the level of the match itself will give us the motivation to perform at our best. It will also be a matter of pride and a desire to show the true value of this team against a great opponent.

Right now I’m only thinking about Palermo. As for the future of the club, I believe Venezia fans should only feel satisfied because I think the ownership group is united and motivated to build a bright future. Among the many congratulations I’ve received this week, there are some special ones that truly meant a lot to me and that I will cherish.

Seeing Venezia capable of expressing this kind of football is a great satisfaction for me; the results are simply a consequence of the performances shown on the pitch. Speaking for myself and the staff, coaching a team like this and celebrating this promotion with the players and the fans is a feeling beyond compare.

We are in Venice, a unique city. We have Piazza San Marco where we can celebrate, so Saturday will be a huge party. At the Penzo Stadium, we have received the fans’ celebrations after every match. As a spectator, having the chance to go to Piazza San Marco and along the Grand Canal to celebrate promotion to Serie A is a unique emotion.”
