At the end of the match between Venezia FC and Virtus Entella, valid for Matchday 18 of the Serie BKT season and ending 1–0 in favor of the orange-and-green side, head coach Giovanni Stroppa and goalkeeper Filip Stankovic analyzed the game.
Giovanni Stroppa, Head Coach of Venezia FC
“Today, in my opinion, we didn’t put in our usual performance; something was missing, both in terms of intensity and mentally in certain decisions. We faced a very strong opponent that we knew could cause us problems, and we were still good at bringing the game home. I congratulate my players because they are having an extraordinary season. Today we could certainly have wrapped up the match earlier by going 2–0 up, but that didn’t happen. We still have the match in Reggio Emilia to close out the first half of the season, but up to now I can say the team is wonderful. Every player is giving 100%—those who start, those who come on, and those who play less. Now we have a bit of time to switch off and make the most of what we’ve achieved so far.”
Filip Stankovic, Goalkeeper of Venezia FC
“Today was a difficult match for me; I always have to stay focused for all 90 minutes because the final stages of a game can be unpredictable. I’m happy with the win—it was important to take all three points today. This afternoon we played well for 70 minutes, then we suffered together in the final moments. We are a united group; today we all defended together, something that perhaps was lacking a bit at the start of the season. Over the past two months we’ve been reaping the rewards of the good work we did earlier. Let’s keep going, thinking one match at a time.”
