At the end of the match between Venezia FC and Monza, valid for Matchday 16 of the Serie BKT championship and ending 2–0 in favor of the orange-and-green side, head coach Giovanni Stroppa and striker Andrea Adorante analyzed the game as follows.
Giovanni Stroppa, Venezia FC head coach.
“Between the first and second halves today I asked the team to try to turn the key moments in our favor, because in the first half, looking at the episodes, we could have been behind. On the other hand, still in the first half, every time we broke forward we did so in a disorganized way and at times made mistakes with the final pass. Then we grew a lot, and in the second half we could have gained even more; the performance was fantastic—we played against a very strong opponent. I congratulate my players because they never gave up today: from the first to the last minute we were focused and determined. It’s always wonderful to be carried along by our fans like this; everyone present supported us throughout the match. The league is still long, and from now on we must immediately prepare for the delicate match against Modena, a very competitive and in-form team.”
Andrea Adorante, Venezia FC forward.
“I think it was one of the best matches we’ve played, especially in terms of team compactness. We were good at pressing all over the pitch; it’s a win that helps the standings and gives great value to what we’re doing. For the penalty, Thiam and I spoke before I took it—he knew that I always look at the goalkeeper before shooting, and today I managed to wrong-foot him. I’m very happy both with the goal and with the team’s positive performance. I think we shouldn’t change anything we’re doing; we need to keep focusing on ourselves and working hard during the week, which is the most important thing, because hard work then shows at the weekend.”
