At the end of the match between Venezia FC and Carrarese, valid for Matchday 22 of the Serie BKT season and finished with a 2–1 victory for the orange-and-green side, head coach Giovanni Stroppa and defender Joel Schingtienne shared their thoughts on the game.
Giovanni Stroppa, Venezia FC Head Coach:
“Today we took another step forward in our season — all the sacrifices we’ve made so far have brought us here. Tomorrow we immediately start thinking about the next match. Looking at the statistics, it was our usual kind of performance; however, if we analyze the game in detail, we made a few too many mistakes and were a bit too predictable at times. Carrarese were dangerous by taking advantage of our errors, and that’s how their goal came. We responded very well afterwards, and today we must highlight the positive aspects of the performance. We showed both quality and intensity, and the players who came off the bench definitely did well. Now we must move forward calmly, with confidence in our beliefs and in our style of play.”
Joel Schingtienne, Venezia FC defender:
“I’m very happy — not only because of the goal I scored, but above all because we got this win, which is the most important thing. We knew it wouldn’t be easy today. During the week we studied Carrarese and we knew how dangerous they could be, especially in transition. We played good football today and we won, which is what matters most. I’m very pleased that coach Stroppa is giving me a lot of minutes — I feel his trust, and I really like his style of play. Building possession from the back gives the defensive unit a lot of positive responsibility. When I scored, during the VAR check I was hoping the referee would point to the center circle, and after celebrating I immediately refocused for the final minutes of the match. Now it’s Frosinone next: it will be a standard week where we will study the opponent with Stroppa and the staff. They are a strong team, and we are ready to face them.”
