At the end of the Venezia-Bari match, the opening game of Serie BKT 25/26, which ended 2-1 for the home side, Venezia’s coach Giovanni Stroppa and captain Gianluca Busio shared their thoughts about the game.
Giovanni Stroppa, Venezia FC head coach.
“It was a good match, with two strong teams that gave their all. For much of the game we played well, but there are still aspects we need to improve, especially the quality in the final third. We could have closed the game in the first half, but we wasted too many chances and then risked conceding the equalizer in the second half. We must learn to finish games off without giving opponents opportunities in the final stages. To do this, we need football maturity, we must read the moments of the match better instead of always playing at a high tempo, especially against a side with great quality like Bari.”
Gianluca Busio, Venezia FC captain.
“It was a good start to the season, winning the opener at home is an incredible feeling. In the first half we played well, with a high tempo and good attacking moves; in the second half we lowered the pace a bit, suffered against our opponents, but managed not to concede. Bari is an excellent team with very talented players, and we did well to beat them. Wearing the Venezia captain’s armband is a huge honor for me. I know I have to be a leader in the eyes of my teammates, and I’m trying to give my best for the team. This Serie B has many strong teams, but we must first focus on ourselves, knowing that we can deliver good performances against anyone.”
