At the end of the match between Venezia FC and Avellino, valid for Matchday 28 of Serie B, which ended 4–0 in favor of the orange-and-blacks, head coach Giovanni Stroppa and midfielder Matteo Dagasso shared their thoughts on the match.
Giovanni Stroppa, head coach of Venezia FC
“Tonight, even when we were level in numbers, we were delivering a more than positive performance. We had two important chances with Sagrado and Casas and didn’t allow any counterattacks. Then clearly the numerical advantage helped us; we took the lead and managed it well afterward. At the end of the match, hearing the fans chant my name filled me with pride — moments like these repay every sacrifice made. They were chanting my name, but I pass all the fans’ passion on to my staff, who support me every day throughout the season. Dagasso? He’s a player who can really enjoy himself in this team. He has quality, a good long-range shot, and the right vision and positioning. Today we also had the chance to bring on fresh players, which is very positive — not only to rest those who play more often, but also to see those who have had fewer minutes so far.”
Matteo Dagasso, midfielder of Venezia FC
“I’m very happy with the win, both for the performance and for the two goals. I immediately felt great here in Venice; all the guys welcomed me warmly and I’m truly happy to be here. At the start of the match they were very compact, so it wasn’t easy to break through their defense with the ball. Overall, the performance was excellent — we dominated the game for 90 minutes. Playing with Busio, Kike Perez and Doumbia? They’re all top players; it’s an honor to have them as teammates.”
