At the end of the match between Mantova and Venezia FC, valid for Matchday 21 of the Serie BKT season and ending 2–5 in favor of the orange-and-black-green side, head coach Giovanni Stroppa and midfielder Issa Doumbia analyzed the game as follows.
Giovanni Stroppa, Head Coach of Venezia FC
“Today it was a strong performance against a team I really liked. It was a difficult match from the very start: Mantova were very aggressive and tried to take advantage of every mistake. From being 2–0 up, it became 2–1 and we had to start over. In the first half we could have wrapped it up, but in the end we fully deserved the win, even considering the final score. Compared to the beginning of the season, not much has changed, but there is greater mentality, belief, and awareness in seeking victory. In matches like this, I’d like to see more quality in possession play, but it’s not always easy—you need to make better use of your chances. If I have to find a flaw, sometimes during a match you can’t always be attractive or always look for the beautiful play; you have to be more pragmatic. Even today we made some mistakes, and it’s good that they happen because that’s how we improve. I truly hope this team can continue to grow in terms of aggression and the desire to bring home results. The satisfaction of coaching this team and seeing them play this way is priceless.”
Issa Doumbia, Midfielder of Venezia FC
“Today was an important win, and I’m happy about the three points. We have to keep going down this path, knowing that we can do even better. At the start of the second half there was a period when Mantova pushed hard; we did well in that moment to keep our concentration high and then score the third goal, which helped us close out the match.”
