Serie B 22/23: Bari - Venezia postmatch

March 1, 2023

Venezia interrupted its streak of positive results with an away defeat against Bari on Giornata 27 of the 2022/23 Serie B season. The initial Venetian lead, penned by Pohjanpalo, was nullified by VAR. A few minutes later, it was conversely the home team that took the lead thanks to Bellomo's header.

Venezia manager Paolo Vanoli and defender Luca Ceppitelli spoke to the press after the match.

Paolo Vanoli:

“I told my players that sometimes good performances don't pay off: we need to be sharper under the goal and have less trouble to make an impact. We are a young team, today the average age on the field was 24 years old, and we express a good game: we need to apply more lucidity and serenity in order to bring home points.

On the one hand I am angry with the team, because in the last three games we would certainly have deserved more, but I must also take note of the good performance we made. We must perhaps be more astute, net of individual episodes, which must not become alibis. Now we prepare for Frosinone, another difficult challenge in the run-up to our goal.”

Luca Ceppitelli:

"Today's defeat was really bitter, because based on the values on the pitch we definitely deserved more, at least a draw. We have to take everything positive that was expressed in today's performance, we showed that the team is there. Even today, we saw that it is often the details that make the difference.”
