Petko Hristov joins Venezia FC

Venezia announce the signing of Bulgarian defender Petko Hristov, 23, on loan from Serie A club Spezia for the remainder of the season.

Hristov started his career in the youth ranks of Slavia Sofia, where he debuted with the first team in the 2016/17 season, making 31 appearances with one goal. Later in that same season, he was loaned to Fiorentina, which would eventually acquire him permanently in the 2017/18 season.

With the Tuscan side, he would establish himself as a top player in the Primavera ranks, before moving on loan to Serie C club Ternana, scoring one goal in 14 appearances.

In the following two years, he would remain in Serie C among the Bisceglie and Pro Vercelli ranks, earning 52 appearances and two goals.

In the 2021/22 season, Hristov moves to Spezia on a permanent transfer, collecting 30 appearances, two goals and one assist in Serie A and Coppa Italia.

At international level, he earned 17 caps with the Bulgarian national team, after making 17 appearances between the Under-17 and Under-21 national teams.
