International break recap: Farji sends Iraq to the World Cup, Yeboah scores for Ecuador

The six Venezia FC players called up by their national teams for the March 2026 break have completed their international duties. Great joy for Iraqi player Farji, who contributed with an assist to the World Cup qualification of the Lions of Mesopotamia. Yeboah scored for Ecuador, while Svoboda, Korac, and Dagasso celebrated two victories each. Below are the details of the arancioneroverdi players’ performances.

Defender and captain of Venezia FC Michael Svoboda played in two friendlies in preparation for the 2026 World Cup. The national team coached by Ralf Rangnick won 5–1 against Ghana and 1–0 against South Korea. Svoboda came on as a substitute in both matches, playing a total of 57 minutes.

Ridgeciano Haps’s Suriname lost the playoff semifinal 2–1 against Bolivia and failed to qualify for the next World Cup. The defender was not used by coach Henk ten Cate.

Luxembourg defender Seid Korac won both the first and second legs against Malta in matches valid for qualification to the UEFA Nations League. The Red Lions defeated Malta 2–0 in the first leg and 3–0 in the return leg; Korac played a total of 160 minutes.

Matteo Dagasso, wearing the Italy Under-21 shirt, took part in two qualification matches for the 2027 European Championships. Two 4–0 wins for the Azzurrini, first against North Macedonia and then against Sweden; the midfielder played a total of 147 minutes.

Midfielder Marko Farji celebrated as a key player in Iraq’s qualification for the 2026 World Cup. At Estadio BBVA in Monterrey, Mexico, the Lions of Mesopotamia defeated Bolivia 2–1; Farji came on in the 52nd minute and, one minute later, provided the assist for the decisive goal scored by Aymen Hussein.

Forward John Yeboah played in two friendlies with Ecuador ahead of the 2026 World Cup. La Tricolor faced Morocco and the Netherlands, drawing both matches 1–1; Yeboah scored in the first match with a curling left-footed shot from 15 meters, playing a total of 166 minutes across the two games.
