At the end of the Empoli-Venezia FC match, valid for Matchday 33 of the 2024/25 Serie A Enilive Championship, which ended with a 2-2 draw, arancioneroverde coach Eusebio Di Francesco and defender Jay Idzes shared their thoughts on the game.
Eusebio Di Francesco:
“I believe today was a missed opportunity. We did well to come back and turn the game around, but we were too naive in conceding that goal: we lost a few challenges due to carelessness, and that can’t happen. Our growth has to start again from moments like this. In certain phases of the match, we need more determination, especially in delicate situations like the one that cost us the draw, despite a great finish to the match. But we want to look ahead with confidence; we have other important matches coming up, and we must face them with the qualities we are consistently showing. I’m convinced we can achieve some satisfying results.”
Jay Idzes:
“It’s hard to comment on this match, because we scored twice to come from behind. But right after that, we conceded the equalizer and that’s why we’re frustrated. In the heat of the moment, it feels like two points lost, but to be honest, 2-2 is a pretty fair result.
We have to keep believing, because there are still five important games to go. Yes, there’s disappointment, but we all still believe.
I want to thank the Curva and all our fans: they’re always by our side, following us everywhere and supporting us at all times. We want to keep giving our all for our city and this club, trying together with them to reach our ultimate goal.”
