Venezia FC Partners with NYU’s Tisch Institute for Global Sport

Venice, Italy – May 21, 2024 - Venezia FC (VFC), the professional football club of Venice founded in 1907, announced it has partnered with New York University’s Preston Robert Tisch Institute for Global Sport at the School of Professional Studies (SPS) for a two-part program in Italy and in the US. The Italian soccer club has teamed up with NYU for a summer research project in July where students will travel to Venice, followed by a special topics advanced seminar offered in the Fall semester titled, “Il Calcio, Consulting for Global Football Properties.”

Developed jointly by both parties, The Venezia FC, and New York University (VFC) partnership aims to provide NYU students access to the club facilities in Venice and a behind-the-scenes look at the fundamentals of building a club that combines football, fashion, and culture into its unique brand identity. The first part of the collaboration includes a Global Field Experience in Italy, in which NYU students will travel to Venice in July and produce research and fan intelligence for the club. In addition to an immersive study and work experience with Venezia FC, the course also concentrates on global issues in the sport industry in Italy, with students continuing their study in both Milan and Florence. Students will center the socialization of sport by exploring Italy’s rich history, lived experience, culture, and identity to understand how a worldview can enhance sport. The second part of the program will commence in the Fall. Both courses are being taught by Professor Gina Antoniello who has designed a globalization of sport classes across four continents in the last year.

To kick-off the launch of this unique partnership Venezia FC recently teamed up with NYU for a promotional event that took place at the Tisch Institute of Global Sport in New York. The event focused on promoting Italian “calcio” and celebrating Italian culture, key pillars within Venezia FC’s mission. The forum included an invigorating panel discussion titled, The Emergence of a Renewed Global Soccer Phenomenon: Bringing Italian Traditions, Culture and il Calcio to the United States,” which focused on building awareness of Italian football trends and its ties to culture and fans globally, celebrating Venezia’s unique identity. The panel was moderated by CBS Sports Analyst and Italian Football TV Founder, Marco Messina and included NYU Professor Gina Antoniello, Venezia FC CMO, Silvia Davì, Lega Serie A, Andy Mitchell, Venezia NYC Fan Club, Massimiliano Menon, and Venetian Chef, Andrea Zanin.
