Venezia FC and We Are Here Venice announce partnership on Venice sustainability

August 18, 2021

Presenting the club’s first “Venice Community Partner,” Venezia FC have joined forces with We are here Venice (WahV), an NGO that exists to address the fundamental challenge facing Venice: to remain a living city.

Tomorrow, 19 August, Venezia FC will release the 21/22 third shirt, an aqua-colored shirt inspired by the Venetian lagoon, and, to activate their new partnership, the club will donate €5 from the sale of each shirt at shop.veneziafc.it to We are here Venice.

WahV's mission is based on an understanding of the city and the lagoon as inseparable elements within a single system; restoring and revitalizing the lagoon is a central part of the organization’s work to ensure Venice's future as a living city.

Led by environmental scientist Jane Da Mosto, WahV advocates an evidence-based approach to policy making, operating both as a think tank and as an activist body, strengthening connections between stakeholders and the best available information. Through collaboration with universities, businesses, cultural institutions and public authorities, the organization manages projects and produces recommendations anchored in rigorous research with the specific objective of bringing about real changes evaluated against social, economic, physical and ecological indicators, and in line with the UN Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

Venezia FC, as part of the club’s Mission, are committed to advocating for the safeguarding of Venice’s natural environment and the redevelopment of Venice as a living city. In recognition of We are here Venice’s leadership role and credibility on these issues, Venezia FC has chosen to support, amplify, and participate in the organization's important work.

We are here Venice is funded through philanthropic donations, membership fees, and project-based assignments, and Venezia FC will initially make contributions over the next two seasons. To learn more about supporting We are here Venice, visit weareherevenice.org.
