Venezia FC and TBA21-Academy’s Ocean Space announce partnership

March 23, 2023

Venezia FC are proud to announce a new partnership with TBA21 - Academy’s Ocean Space, acting as Main Supporter of the public program season 2023.

Ocean Space is a planetary center for catalyzing critical ocean literacy, collaborative research, and environmental advocacy through the arts. Established and led by TBA21–Academy and building on its expansive work over the past eleven years, this embassy for the ocean fosters engagement and collective action on the most pressing issues facing the oceans today. Opened in March of 2019, Ocean Space is inhabiting the Church of San Lorenzo in Venice.

The partnership reflects both organizations’ commitment to engaging local communities, advocating for the safeguarding of Venice’s natural environment, and the redevelopment of Venice as a living city, fostering the Venetian way of living in accordance with sustainability principles of the lagoon.

Ocean Space's public program is conceived and developed for each exhibition season, inspired by TBA21–Academy’s practice of disseminating local ecological knowledge through cultural programming. Ocean Space strives to act as an oceanic hub that grafts ecological awareness and sustainable ways of living by developing a community of care and concern around bodies of water. The Venice lagoon is a crucial anchor point for both partners, Ocean Space and Venezia FC, to foster social cohesion and quality of life in and around Venice, with a primary focus on culture, education, health, and well-being of young people and other citizens of the lagoon.

All the activities of the public program are free of charge and open to all. Dates and calendar will be available soon on the Ocean Space website under www.ocean-space.org/activities

Ocean Space will open to the public on April 22, 2023 with the exhibition Thus waves come in pairs curated by Barbara Casavecchia.
