Alice Zuanti: “I was born and raised in the Venezia family”

February 15, 2023

With 14 goals in 13 appearances this season, statistics do the talking for Alice Zuanti. The 1995-born striker, now a veteran of the Venezia FC Femminile ranks, has been a protagonist of the team’s success since she first entered the locker room.

"For me, football is a 'family affair', my dad runs a local football team and I started playing at a very young age, with my brother, staying in mixed teams until I was 12-13 years old. I was born in the province of Venice, my entire career so far has developed in our local community and, however much progress has been made over the years, I am confident that our field can still grow significantly. Even in the small local clubs, I notice that young girls now have more opportunities than I had some time ago, and interest in the category is undoubtedly growing, also thanks to the successes of our national women's team.

I've been at Venezia FC Femminile since the team's inception, so I can certainly consider myself one of the most 'seasoned' players, but I'm not afraid to admit my frailties: often my experience allows me to help and give advice to my younger teammates, but just as often I'm the one who needs support and backing, which in any case, in a tight-knit locker room like ours, is never lacking.

My personality, as for all footballers, also influences the way I play: as a striker, I have always focused on technique and speed, but sometimes I would like to have a little more healthy cynicism in front of the goal, hesitating less in the face of the chances we manage to create. I follow men's football very little, with the significant exception of the Venezia first team, and my role models are all female: I really admire Alex Morgan, captain of the US national team, and Italy's own Cristiana Girelli.”
