Venezia FC present short film series TEMPO

September 6, 2022

Venezia FC present TEMPO, a series of short films focused on three personal stories of life in Venice, with music as the common thread between them, revealing a rich and textured layer of modern Venetian culture that is rarely seen behind the facade of tourism and stereotypes, with the purpose of challenging pre-conceived notions and making a contribution to the narrative of Venice as a living city.

Navigating the environment’s uniqueness and inherent challenges, the three stories embody the spirit of the broader Venetian community, marked by ingenuity, collective thinking over individualism, and a desire to preserve and pass on a way of life to future generations.

TEMPO’s subjects are reggae, jazz, and ska singer and saxophonist Marco “Furio” Forieri (“Fuoco Lento”), Venezia Hardcore Festival founder Samall Ali (“A Luci Accese”), and creative collective and DIY nightlife impresarios Opificio (“Ciò Che Siamo È Anche Dove”).

A project conceived by Venezia FC and produced in partnership with Xiaomi, TEMPO is a film by New York- and Venice-based studio, directed by Brazilian-born, Brooklyn-based Filipe Zapelini, with creative direction by’s Camilla Glorioso and Daniel Lober and Venezia FC’s Ted Philipakos.

“Venezia FC is an ambassador of the city of Venice,” said brand director Ted Philipakos. “TEMPO naturally grew out of our mission to celebrate the city’s unique cultural heritage, to give voice to the city’s personalities and organizations, and to present and reinforce the narrative of Venice as a living city.”

This marks the second innovative collaboration between Venezia FC and global technology leader Xiaomi in recent months, following the July 2022 production of Fashion at Iuav 2022, the latest edition of the annual graduation show of fashion design students at the Università Iuav di Venezia, hosted at Venezia FC’s Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo.

In the making of TEMPO, select scenes were shot with the support of the Xiaomi 12 Pro smartphone.

TEMPO had its premier screening on 6 September at Tennis Club Venezia in Lido di Venezia and is now available to be viewed at @veneziafc on Instagram.
