ANDERSEN: “Palermo can be the turning point”

November 30, 2022

Ahead of Saturday’s match with Ternana at Stadio Penzo in Matchday 15 of the 2022/23 Serie B season, Venezia midfielder Magnus Kofod Andersen discussed the state of the team.

“The victory in Palermo was very important for the team's spirits and can be the turning point for this season. We created many chances, but, as Joel [Pohjanpalo] pointed out, we need to capitalize on them and score more goals. Winning with the first clean sheet of the season also showed the progress made in our defending, progress that is fundamental especially in a league such as Serie B, where a solid defensive unit really makes the difference.

Coach Vanoli makes us work hard in training, and I value his tactical and strategic preparation. He has the ability to always identify the position where each of us can express our full potential: the personalization he dedicates to each player in training is then reflected in the positioning on the field.

In the last two games, I was a starter after a few months on the bench. I understand the reasons for this choice: coming from a foreign league, I needed some time to understand how Italian soccer works, and the lessons learned in these months have paid off.

I found myself very comfortable playing as a left midfielder: I like the role of an attacking midfielder, as well as adapting to the role of a classic number 6, depending on the coach's needs.

Right now, each of us has to give our all to show that we do not reflect our current position in the standings. We must put this difficult moment to good use in order to find greater determination and give our fans the home success they so richly deserve.”
